Episode 6: Shame around Sexuality & How to Talk about Sex

Welcome, to the Healing Art of Being You. I’ve asked Allison to take us further down the road with her experienced knowledge in sexual health, age appropriate sex ed, and enthusiastic consent. 

Allison is a doctorate in Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy and a mother to three incredibly well-educated children when it comes to healthy boundaries and emotional intelligence. Alongside her, Chelsy Damron, an intuitive health coach and body code practitioner, helps us to understand how the way we are raised and the way we grow to understand sexuality manifests in the energy body, creating a dissociation in the spirit from the body.

We live in a society full of pressure around sexuality, constantly being baraged with contradicting messages of guilt, shame, obligation and oftentimes a twisted conclusion of what that should look like for women. As parents, many of us are looking for healthy ways to raise our children to be mindfully aware of these things when the time comes, without dressing it up in toxic thought patterns that more often than not we were taught by our own well-meaning parents.

I hope that you walk away from this episode feeling more prepared for those conversations, as well as more mindful of how you are arriving emotionally and energetically in your own sexuality, and the places that those energies are coming from.
