Episode 12 : Finding a Light in the Darkness with Becca Dodmead

Becca Dodmead knows what it means have to fight for what you know to be true and right while experiencing medical gaslighting. After fighting for her life in a broken system, Becca uses her own gentle presence and humor to advocate for proper trauma-informed care in the hospital she currently works in, educating younger and misled nurses and offering a source of peace to the patients she encounters.

After being constantly ignored, mistreated and ultimately failed by the medical industry, Becca found herself barely hanging on to her life battling a severe case of sepsis caused by endometriosis. Something that probably could have been avoided had she been treated humanely and listened to ended up costing her multiple ostomy surgeries and months of rehabilitation, but through it all, she is far from jaded.

Humor, creativity, and kindness got her through it, and now she makes it her mission to bring that same energy into every moment that she can. She has since created her own non-profit, Artisans for Good, through which she helps individuals in medical crises in need of support. An inventor, a creator, a healer and a survivor, this woman is such a joy to have with us here today, and we’re so glad you’re here to join us through the laughter, the tears, and everything in between.
